Soul's Purpose

Humans are curious beings. We want to understand how everything works, find a reason for everything, and assign responsibility to things to validate something. This is a blessing and a curse.

Animals do not spend time on these things. They are curious, but their curiosity tends to be on their current environment. Their focus is on making their life and the lives of their humans happy. They "miss" people when they are gone, but they also have a greater ability to enjoy life while missing them. Spiritual teachers around the world encourage "being present".

As an animal communicator, I am often asked by humans, "What is my dog/cat's purpose? What are they here to teach me?". I get it! We all would like a Sage to spell everything out for us. That would make life easier. It would also defeat the point of being on earth.

Does this mean that animals are not here to help us? Does this mean that they do not have a purpose of their own? No. It means that we all need to figure out our own purpose. It means that all souls come here to learn something, to help in some way, or to meet up with other souls to finish a lesson not learned the last time around. An important thing to remember, however, is that once souls enter the earthly form, they do not generally remember the mission. Souls are not entering adult bodies and taking over. They are entering the womb of their mother. They go through the birthing process, babyhood, and so on. The Soul knows why it returned to earth. The physical body has to figure that out once here and within the environment of their new family.

Some people hold on to their gifts and remember things. That is not the norm. Most of us, have to figure it out as we go along. It is the same for animals.

The notion that your animal picked you or sent someone to you is sweet. It is very possible. Souls do help from beyond. Again, once the soul enters this realm, earth, they probably do not remember this task. They may feel guided to go somewhere. They may have a huge pull towards you upon first meeting. This pull is the soul recognizing your soul. If, for some reason, you ignored that pull, then the soul must continue life in the body they are in and then return in another life to try again.

There are so many factors and outside influences involved in two beings meeting. Think about all the people and places on earth, and how each individual is influenced by those who came before them. For animals, it is even more random. They may be born and then discarded. The animal may be picked up by any number of people from anywhere in the world, transported, and then placed in a shelter. There are too many variables. Spirit is not dropping souls into the exact body and location to align with one human. Spirit is not moving souls around a board like chess pieces. Souls return with a purpose and then have to deal with everything and everyone in their path.

I always said Little Bear sent Daisy to us. I believe that to be true. I also believe he did not orchestrate her entire life (being born to a stray in PR, being homeless, following a lady who ended up caring for her, etc). Daisy's soul was sent to earth for her own purposes. She was given some tools: strength, perseverance, curiosity, daring, sweetness, etc. These tools and the situations she found herself in aligned her with being sent to the United States for foster care. Little Bear sent me messages and urged me to look for an animal to adopt. I applied for several dogs and was denied all of them. I decided to ignore the messages and give up for the time being. Shortly after, a friend of a friend posted that she was looking for a temporary foster for a little girl from PR. I decided to do that to satisfy my craving for a pup and see if I was aligned with the responsibility of having an animal again. That is how we got Daisy. That is how Little Bear "sent" her to me. He helped me see her post and be open to getting another dog. If I had already adopted someone, I would not have been able to adopt Daisy. So many pieces to coordinate and, of course, free will. When we did pick Daisy up from the airport, I believe Little Bear was talking to her the whole time. She came into the apartment knowing where everything was and without any hesitation. He had given her the map of things, even his walking patterns outside! We knew right away that Daisy was not just our foster, but our forever girl.

I am not disagreeing that souls have a purpose; they all do. I just do not think animals are here specifically to tell humans theirs. They can assist us in our quest, as we can assist others in theirs, but it is not for our animals to hand us the answers. We have to do the work. We have to figure things out on our own.

All souls are special. Some are new and here for the first time. Others have been here before. Animals may or may not remember their past lives. We don't all remember our past lives. That doesn't mean they didn't happen.

That pull, that feeling of familiarity that you have with your animal, is real. Do not ignore it. That feeling comes from deep inside you. Your soul recognizes the soul of your animal and rejoices! The rest is up to us. Slow down. Meditate. Watch your animals to see how they act. Their behavior is a great clue for us on how we should move forward. As you take the time to center yourself, your answers will come. Enjoy your journey and share it with your animal!
